Blinded by the Truth

The cliffside was a jagged scar against the night, the churning Atlantic below howling like a beast starved for prey. For Elena, this was the end of a long, calculated game. The wind whipped her hair, but she didn’t shiver; her adrenaline was a searing, electric current. A few feet away, her mother-in-law, Clara, stood teetering on the precipice, her eyes wide with the realization of what her "devoted" daughter-in-law had lured her here to do.

"You spent thirty years holding the keys to this family," Elena whispered, her voice barely carrying over the roar of the surf. "But you’ve spent the last six months making my life a prison. Tonight, the walls come down."

Clara didn't scream. She simply looked at Elena with a terrifying, calm pity. "You think death is a solution, Elena? You haven’t even begun to see the shadows you’ve invited into this life."
