THE CURSE OF THE FINAL STITCH

The ballroom turned into a vacuum of sound. The bride, still draped in the intricate, hand-stitched lace that had been her mother’s final work, felt as though the garment was suddenly tightening around her throat. The laughter of the elite guests had evaporated, replaced by an uncomfortable, jagged silence that hung in the air like a guillotine.

The woman who had been bullied—the sister of the girl the bride had just humiliated—didn’t look back. She walked toward the heavy oak doors with a gait that lacked the subservience of a servant. She walked with the weight of someone who finally had nothing left to lose.

As she reached the doorway, she stopped and turned. Her voice was cold, echoing through the marble hall with a clarity that made everyone wince. "You asked for perfection in your wedding, and you got it. You’re wearing the final breath of the woman who gave you everything—the same woman you erased from your family tree the moment you married into wealth."
