THE FALL OF THE ARROGANT

The silence that filled the hotel lobby was absolute, save for the faint, rhythmic ticking of shattered glass settling on the marble floor. Seraphina, the woman in the white silk dress, stood frozen. The arrogance that had defined her expression only moments ago had evaporated, replaced by a complexion as pallid as a ghost. Her hands, once poised to dismiss, now trembled uncontrollably at her sides.

Permone remained on the floor, not as a victim, but as a silent epicenter of power. The bodyguard, a man known for his stone-cold efficiency, looked genuinely terrified as he cradled her arm. "Miss Permone, please," he stammered, his voice barely audible. "The Chairman is moments away. He is… he is beyond furious."

Before Permone could utter a single word, the hotel manager—who had been cowering behind the reception desk—scrambled toward them. He threw himself onto his knees, his face pressed against the cold stone, ignoring the shards of glass digging into his skin. "Miss Permone! I am so sorry! We were coerced, we were under contract with her family—please, you must believe us, we didn't know!"

Permone shifted her gaze toward the manager. Her eyes, usually soft, now held the weight of a thousand storms. She didn't shout. She didn't need to. "Silence," she whispered. The single word acted like a physical blow, silencing the entire lobby.
