THE SILENT CATHEDRAL: THE CROWN OF SHAME

THE SILENT CATHEDRAL: THE CROWN OF SHAME (Part 2)

The latch groaned—a sharp, metallic sound that echoed through the vast, vaulted rafters like a gunshot. As the wooden barrel fell away, hitting the marble floor with a hollow thud, the entire assembly let out a collective, ragged gasp.

The bride, Princess Elara, was not the trembling, broken creature the King had intended to display. Her hair was disheveled and her face bore the raw marks of her confinement, but her eyes—a striking, defiant violet—burned with a fire that hadn't been extinguished. She looked at the King, her father-in-law, not with fear, but with a gaze that stripped away his mantle of absolute power.

The King’s face flushed a deep, violent crimson. "Guards!" he bellowed, his voice vibrating against the stone walls. "Seize them! This is treason! The barrel was the sentence of a criminal, not a guest!"

But the guards did not move. They looked at the Prince, then at the Princess, and then back at the King. For the first time in his reign, the monarch’s commands were met with a chilling, absolute stillness.

The Prince turned, his hand still resting gently on Elara’s shoulder. He didn't look at his father; he looked at the lords, the generals, and the common folk who had been forced to watch this spectacle.
